Fish kill strikes river in Pontevedra

Another fish kill incident took place in a river in Pontevedra, Negros Occidental, over the weekend.
In a report by Bombo Radyo-Bacolod, the Pontevedra Municipal Police Station said a concerned citizen visited their station to report an undetermined number of dead fish were spotted floating in Tuburan creek, Barangay DSB of the said town.
Police immediately notified the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) of the incident. The office dispatched representatives in the area to retrieve a water sample.
The municipal police added the water way is connected to a bioethanol plant located in the neighboring city of La Carlota.
Authorities are now investigating the cause of the incident./WDJ
