The Iloilo provincial government is providing summer jobs for 40 scholars enrolled at local state universities and colleges, through the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES).
For those enrolled in Iloilo City, they will be assigned to the Iloilo Provincial Capitol, while those throughout the province will be assigned to their respective municipalities or the nearest district hospital.
The jobs will primarily involve clerical work for 32 days and be paid P323 per day. 60 percent of their pay will go towards tuition fees, while 40 percent will be paid through education vouchers from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
An orientation for those selected will take place on April 22 at the Casa Real de Iloilo by the Iloilo Public Employment Service Office (PESO).
Last year, 50 scholars worked for 35 days and earned P298 a day.
The program is also open to qualified high school students, drop-outs, and interested employers.
Interested employers can apply by signing a pledge of commitment and submitting it to DOLE regional office or to PESO./WDJ
