UK officials look to build ties in Iloilo, Visayas

Both British Ambassador to the Philippines Asif Ahmad and United Kingdom trade envoy Richard Graham discussed their plans to boost economic ties between the UK and Iloilo and throughout the Visayas.
“Finance, innovation, and education are the three key points that we can hope to bring with the greater entrepreneurial spirit from the British Embassy,” said Graham. “We want to re-explore the Visayas.”
Meanwhile, Ahmad said Iloilo and the Visayas have greater potential to export agricultural products that can undergo value-added processing.
Senator Franklin Drilon also assured the British delegation that Iloilo and the Western Visayas is ready for bigger economic partnerships.
British economic ties with Iloilo dates back to the mid-19th century when the Port of Iloilo opened for international trading./WDJ
