A 32-year-old man was killed after he was allegedly shot by his brother-in-law in Barangay Winaswasan, Calatrava, Negros Occidental, Thursday afternoon.
Police identified the fatality as Ronillo Pabalate, a resident of the said barangay.
According to the initial investigation by the Calatrava municipal police, the victim and the suspect, 39-year-old Jolito Labrador, were attending a birthday celebration of a relative, where they were both drinking.
As they grew inebriated, however, Labrador allegedly shot Pabalate three times with a .45 caliber pistol, hitting him twice in the side and once in the chest.
The victim was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) in Bacolod City for treatment, but passed away enroute.
Pabalate’s mother, meanwhile, said, before passing away, her son named Labrador as the shooter.
She also said her son and Labrador did not carry any grudges with one another, and has appealed to the suspect to surface and face his crime.
Labrador is currently being pursued by Calatrava police./WDJ
