An alleged robber was arrested by police badly bruised and bleeding after he was reportedly mauled by an angry mob along Gatuslao Street, part of Barangay 12, Bacolod City, Friday morning.
Police identified the victim as 34-year-old school teacher, Rubie Lyn Barrientos, a resident of East Abkasa, Barangay Mandalagan of the said city.
According to a report released by Police Station 1 (PS1), Barrientos was walking along the said area when the suspect, 24-year-old Reggie Valeriano, pointed a bladed weapon at her and declared a hold-up.
The suspect forced the victim to give up her bag, full of electronic gadgets and cash, and tried to escape into the Bacolod City Public Plaza.
However, as he was trying to escape, the victim shouted for help and several bystanders chased down the suspect.
The angry mob mauled Valeriano until cops arrived to arrest him.
Police recovered the victim’s items, worth around P34,500.
Valeriano is facing robbery charges and is detained at PS1./WDJ
