A 69-year-old mother was killed inside her home after she was strangled and robbed by unidentified suspects along La Salle Avenue, Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City, early Sunday morning.
Police identified the fatality as Virginia Sumagang, a resident of the said barangay.
Police Station 4 (PS4) commander, Police Senior Inspector Elmer Bonilla, said the victim’s son discovered her unconscious on her bed with a handkerchief tied around her neck.
Sumagang was rushed to Bacolod Doctor’s Hospital, but was declared dead on arrival by medical staff.
The victim’s son also reported several valuables, including personal gadgets, shoes, and jewelry were missing, which led police to believe the incident was a home invasion.
PS4 is currently conducting an investigation into the incident to determine the identity of the perpetrators./WDJ
