Former Berya drug group member Ricky Serenio was released from police custody, after spending almost three months in jail on charges of illegal possession of ammunition and explosives, and grave coercion.
Pulupandan police chief, Police Senior Inspector Alfred De Leon, said Serenio was released after the court allowed him to post bail amounting to P400,000.
Police Regional Office-18 (PRO-18) spokesperson, Police Senior Inspector Armilyn Vargas, meanwhile, said, although Serenio is free for the time being, he is currently at an undisclosed location in Pulupandan and being monitored by police.
She added the court has yet to decide on the motion filed to move Serenio to Camp Crame in Metro Manila.
Serenio was arrested last January after he was tracked down by members of the Regional Special Operations Task Group-18 (RSOTG-18) in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
Following his arrest, he revealed the links of several members of police, judges, law enforcement agents, and media men to the Berya drug group.
Serenio was moved to Pulupandan jail after the court ordered he be placed under protective custody of the Pulupandan police and Moises Padilla mayor and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) consultant Magdaleno Peña./WDJ
