Both Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. and Victorias City Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca congratulated Noven Belleza of Victorias City, who won the “Tawag ng Tanghalan” singing contest over the weekend.
The governor said Belleza serves as an “inspiration to young talents like him” and called him a “shining example of a success story.”
Palanca also heaped praise on the hometown champion.
“Belleza’s victory is a victory for all Victoriahanons,” he said. “He proved what our City’s name stands for – Victory.”
The mayor noted, given Belleza’s occupation as a rice farmer, his ability to overcome adversity.
“It has been proven time and again that poverty is not a hindrance to success for all those who dream and work for it,” Palanca stated. “He overcame all odds and came out the winner.”
Belleza was crowned the winner live on ABS-CBN noontime show “It’s Showtime” at the Newport Performing Arts of Resorts World Manila. He registered a score of 99.96 percent and won P2 million, a house and lot from Camella Homes, a recording contract with Star Music, and a musical package from JB Music./WDJ
