Local boxers triumph in weekend boxing event

The boxing invitational, coordinated by the Bacolod Amateur Boxing Association (BABA), saw eight Bacolod City-based boxers triumph during the event at the 888 Chinatown Square Mall.
Initial reports said the event would take place at the BAYS Center.
Benedick Esmolo of Barangay Singcang defeated Kenrich Monteclaro of Barangay Bata in the 23.5kg weight class; Randy Tuason of Barangay Bata defeated Joebert Rosalina of Murcia in the 23.7kg weight class; Chris Oliver Genit of Barangay Pahanocoy defeated Giovani Rosalina of Murcia in the 39kg weight class; Jeric Garcia of Barangay Handumanan defeated Rodrigo Sebua of La Carlota City in the 46kg weight class; Ricky delos Santos of Barangay Handumanan defeated John Mark Elisan of La Carlota City in the 51kg weight class; Branden Sabillo of Barangay Singcang defeated Vincent Bullor of Murcia in the 46kg weight class; Joshua Belicena of Barangay Taculing defeated Arby Jay Bernil of EB Magalona in the 51kg weight class; and Jonel Alit of Barangay Alijis defeated Joseph Novero of Pahanocoy.
BABA President Ramon ‘Monju’ Guanzon, who was in attendance, said, “While winning has been the top priority, I believe it should be character development among the youth that should be first.”/WDJ
