In what is being coined a “Cinderella story,” Assumption Montessori School (Cagayan de Oro) won the National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) Division 2 championships, defeating St. Jude College Dasmariñas Cavite, Inc., 72-71.
Program Director Eric Altamirano said the victory is what NBTC is all about.
“It’s about giving an opportunity for a small school, like Assumption, to play on a bigger stage,” he explained. “This season only showed there is a depth of talent in the countryside waiting to be given a chance to be discovered.”/WDJ
