Bacolod City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran asked the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) to focus on the security of the city at night time, following a string of robbery and other crime incidents in Bacolod City.
In a phone interview yesterday, Familiaran said he suspects the rise in robbery incidents was due to the renewed campaign by police against illegal drugs.
He explained some pushers rely solely on the proliferation of illegal drugs as a source of income.
Due to the aggressive campaign, pushers are now switching to other criminal activities like theft, snatching, and robbery.
“This is a matter of survival to them,” Familiaran said.
He also stated any criminal acts in the city is alarming as Bacolod City is supposed to be a peaceful community.
According to Familiaran, cops should further increase their presence during night time and the early morning hours.
“Cops should be roaming the streets from 8:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. the next day,” Familiaran added./WDJ
