The police chief of Siaton, in Negros Oriental, has been sacked and reassigned to the provincial headquarters for investigation by the provincial police director over a video showing him allegedly abusing a motorcycle driver.
In a mobile phone video taken by the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOrPPO) from an anonymous source, the driver, Joby dela Cruz, was forced by Police Chief Inspector Varie Villanobos to listen to the noise generated by his motorcycle’s open pipe muffler, while he revved the engine.
Villanobos was also shown asking Dela Cruz if he likes listening to the noise being generated by his motorcycle.
Villanobos, meanwhile, admitted to the incident and explained he did it because of the number of complaints received about Dela Cruz’s noisy motorcycle.
NOrPPO director, Police Senior Superintendent Henry Biñas added, even though Dela Cruz said he will not press charges, Villanobos is still facing administrative charges and may be discharged from the service./WDJ
