A drunk man was killed after he was allegedly mauled by another drunk person at Purok Nabalian, Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City, Wednesday evening.
Police identified the fatality as 57-year-old Manuel Dato-on, a resident of the said barangay.
Police Station 6 (PS6) commander, Police Chief Inspector Jovil Sedel, said the suspect, 29-year-old Camilo Aboy, was drinking with his friends when Dato-on arrived.
The victim, who was also drunk, told the suspect and his group to stop making noise as he was going to sleep, but the group did not heed the victim’s appeal.
A few minutes later, Dato-on returned with a bolo, causing panic among Aboy’s friends. The victim allegedly tried to hack Aboy, but he was able to use his right arm to block the attempt.
The suspect grabbed a rock and threw it at Dato-on’s face, knocking him out momentarily. However, Dato-on still tried to assault Aboy, but the suspect grabbed another rock, hitting him in the head and knocking him unconscious.
Aboy, meanwhile, fled to his house following the incident and was later arrested by police.
Sedel added both the suspect and the victim were brought to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH), where Dato-on later succumbed to his wounds.
Aboy was treated for his hack wounds and is facing the criminal charge of homicide./WDJ
