The National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC), under the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), recently approved a P25 salary increase for workers in Negros Occidental and the Western Visayas.
Workers for companies with more than 10 employees will receive an increase of P25, while companies employing 10 workers and below will get a P15 increase. Meanwhile, plantation and non-plantation workers will also get an increase of P15.
DOLE-Region VI Director Salome Siaton said the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board conducted consultations before endorsing the wake hike.
The salary increase was made in response to a petition filed by the Negros Island Chapter of the Philippine Agricultural, Commercial and Industrial Workers Union (PACIWU) in August last year./WDJ
