Both Negros Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Moises Padilla Mayor and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) consultant Magdaleno Peña welcomed the news, yesterday, that the Philippine National Police (PNP) has been cleared to return to anti-illegal drug duties.
In a text message sent by Lacson to Watchmen Daily Journal, he said the PNP should make every effort in ensuring their anti-drug enforcement units are clean.
He said they should focus more on the source of illegal drugs by hunting down shabu laboratories and stopping drug smuggling in the ports.
“Going after these lowly pushers resulted in 7,000 deaths, but the supply of illegal drugs remained,” Lacson explained.
Peña, meanwhile, said it was good that President Rodrigo Duterte cleared the PNP to return, but said they should strictly keep an eye on their regional commanders from now on.
He added the PNP should also continue their internal cleansing of scalawag cops in their ranks./WDJ
