With Iloilo City hosting the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) meetings from March 6 to 9, Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) Director, Police Chief Superintendent Jose Gentiles, declared a gun ban from March 3 to 20.
“This is part of security preparations to ensure events will be free of firearm-related incidents and for the safety of foreign and local visitors,” he said.
Gentiles reiterated only on-duty officers of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and other law enforcement agencies are allowed to carry their firearms.
Iloilo City will be hosting the 22nd meeting of the Senior Officials Committee for the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community./WDJ
