OFW provides assistance to street cleaner who attempted suicide

The street cleaner who attempted to take her own life at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC), last Thursday, received assistance from a concerned overseas Filipino worker (OFW).
In a report by Bombo Radyo-Bacolod, the 67-year-old street cleaner, a resident of Barangay 16, could not hide her tears of joy after receiving the assistance.
When she was interviewed by the radio station, she said she felt bad after she discovered her name was not on the roster of the job order casuals.
Azinith Geroldo, who is currently outside the country, sent money via money transfer upon hearing the news from Bombo’s Facebook page.
Bombo Radyo-Bacolod facilitated the request and assisted the cleaner in retrieving the money which was used to buy one sack of rice.
According to the street cleaner, she started working for the city in 2004 and couldn’t accept that she was removed from the list of job order casuals.
She thought about jumping off the third floor of BCGC building, fearing she could not feed her grandchildren anymore.
She was eventually stopped by a concerned city employee.
The cleaner also took the opportunity to thank Geroldo for the assistance./WDJ
