The Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) lobby played host for a testimonial dinner, last Friday, for the 74 Bacolod City College (BCC) alumni who passed the elementary level licensure examination for teachers (LET).
Among the group was Ma. Fatima Ofracio, who ranked ninth nationwide, and received a plaque of recognition and a P30,000 cash incentive, provided by the Teacher Education Award and Recognition Program.
In addressing the dinner, she said, “Thank you for making Bacolod City College a school that provides quality education to poor but deserving students of Bacolod City.”
“I am very proud of Ofracio’s achievement,” said Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia. “It makes me even prouder that, while we have the cheapest tuition, at only P30 per unit, we can give them quality education.”
Ofracio, of Barangay Punta Taytay, graduated cum laude last year and scored 86.40 in the March 2016 LET.
Meanwhile, BCC Administrator Ma. Johanna Ann Bayoneta noted BCC was also named among the top 10 performing elementary schools by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
Also in attendance were City Councilors Bartolome Orola and Wilson Gamboa, Jr.; Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) Deputy Director, Dr. Dennis Rebueno; BCC Alumni Association President Israel Salanga; BCC Dean of Instructions, Dr. Elias Alias; and BCC Board of Trustees members Jose Abello and Aufred Sa-onoy./WDJ
