The Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts emerged on top in the Women’s Open title of the 66th San Carlos City Charter Anniversary Invitational Volleyball Open Tournament at the Barangay 3 Covered Court on Sunday, July 19.

The Thunderbolts turned in a dominant performance from start to finish to sweep the University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos (UNO-R), 25-17, 25-14, in the championship match.

Zelver Faith Banguiao was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player after leading Bacolod Tay Tung’s title-winning campaign.

As a bonus, she was invited to join the Alas Pilipinas Under-17 squad.

The championship squad was composed of Ana Ysabelle Hermosura, Alexa Bertolano, Marishka Alexandria Andrada, Rhose Vianne Almendralejo, Jelleane Laborte, Nicole Getino, Avienne Mathilda Bancale, Christina Gale, Banguiao, Jhaening Mayang, Luchi Vivero, Memielle Letran, Zeianne Laborte, and Shannen Bañas.

Meanwhile, UNO-R salvaged a championship in the Men’s Open category after defeating City Designs in the finals.

Hydra Escalante City and Colegio de Sto. Tomas – Recoletos, Inc. claimed third-place honors in the Men’s and Women’s Open, respectively./ASC, WDJ
