A 48-year-old barber survived a shooting attempt at Barangay Zone 12 in Negros Occidental’s Talisay City on Thursday night, July 16.

Alias “Jeniri,” a resident of Barangay Zone 10, was unhurt after the suspect, 34-year-old alias “Roy,” a pedicab driver from Barangay Zone 11, allegedly opened fire at him along Bonifacio Street at 6:15 p.m.

Talisay police said “Jeniri” went to a tricycle terminal to look for his child’s cellular phone that had allegedly been left inside a tricycle.

“Roy” reportedly glared at the victim and threatened to shoot him.

Fearing for his safety, the victim returned to the barbershop where he worked and grabbed a steel pipe for protection.

“Roy” allegedly pulled out an improvised firearm from his bag and fired a single shot.

The bullet missed the victim, leaving him unhurt.

The suspect fled the scene by boarding a passing tricycle before getting off at the next block.

He was arrested in a police pursuit operation less than two hours after the incident.

Police said the improvised firearm used in the shooting was not recovered./CCJ, WDJ
