A fire destroyed a single-storey building at Antonio L. Jayme Elementary School along Alijis-Murcia Road in Barangay Mansilingan on Sunday morning, July 12, causing an estimated P960,000 in property damage.

Records from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) showed that the fire broke out at around 8:53 a.m.

The blaze quickly spread through the structure, which was largely made of light materials.

No injuries or casualties were reported.

Several fire trucks from the BFP, along with volunteer fire brigades, responded to the incident and declared the fire under control at around 9:08 a.m.

Arson investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire.

The BFP reminded the public to regularly inspect electrical connections and immediately unplug appliances that emit smoke or unusual odors, advising owners to have faulty electrical equipment repaired to help prevent fires./MAP, WDJ
