A 39-year-old man was found dead with multiple injuries along an irrigation canal in Barangay Malingin in Negros Occidental’s Bago City yesterday morning.

The victim, identified only by the alias “Edmon,” a vendor and resident of Barangay Atipuluan’s Purok Goldenfield, was discovered submerged inside an irrigation structure in Purok Narra at 7:20 a.m.

Police said the victim’s brothers, identified only by their aliases “Edmar” and “Enocencio,” had been searching for their missing sibling when they found his body in the irrigation canal.

They immediately pulled him out of the water and placed him on the embankment, where they noticed he had sustained injuries on different parts of his body.

The victim was rushed by personnel of the Bago City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council to Bago City Hospital.

However, he was declared dead on arrival.

Authorities said the victim’s remains will undergo a post-mortem examination at a funeral home to help determine the exact cause of death.

Police have yet to identify the suspect or suspects responsible for the incident.

Investigators are continuing their probe to establish the motive behind the killing and identify those involved./CCJ, WDJ
