NIR records 4.1-M voters for BSKE

More than 4.1 million voters are registered in the Negros Island Region (NIR) for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) on November 2, according to data from the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Comelec-NIR data showed a total of 4,151,396 registered voters for the BSKE polls.

“We received the final list of registered voters for the BSKE in Negros Oriental recently, after all registration applications and voter-related applications were approved by the ERB [Election Registration Board],” Comelec-NIR Assistant Regional Director Dindo told the Philippine News Agency in an interview yesterday.

Of the total, 3,097,201 are registered for the barangay elections, while 1,054,195 are eligible to vote in the SK elections.

For the barangay elections, Negros Occidental has the highest number of registered voters at 2,016,862, followed by Negros Oriental with 996,328 and Siquijor with 84,011.

In the SK elections, Negros Occidental also posted the highest number of registered voters at 683,805, followed by Negros Oriental with 342,110 and Siquijor with 28,280.

The region has a total of 1,435 voting precincts — 750 in Negros Occidental, 553 in Negros Oriental and 132 in Siquijor.

Maglasang said the final voters’ list will be uploaded to the Comelec online precinct finder before election day, allowing voters to verify their registration status and locate their assigned clustered precincts.

He added that voters may also visit their local Comelec offices to obtain the same information. (PNA)
