The Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD) in Bacolod City is still awaiting the results of police investigation into the stabbing incident involving two minors in front of Sum-ag National High School on Monday, June 29.
DSSD assistant head Alma Gustilo said the case has already been referred to the social worker assigned to Barangay Sum-ag, who has been tasked with conducting an intervention program for both minors.
On Monday, a 14-year-old Grade 8 male student was allegedly stabbed by a 12-year-old Grade 7 male student at 4:18 p.m. in front of the school.
Police records revealed that the victim was standing in the area when the suspect allegedly attacked him with a bladed weapon.
The victim sustained stab wounds to his left arm and the left side of his body.
He was immediately taken to a hospital, while the suspect voluntarily surrendered to authorities at around 5:00 p.m.
Gustilo said the DSSD will coordinate with the students’ teachers, guidance counselor and school principal to assess their condition and determine whether they require psychological intervention.
She added that the DSSD is also closely monitoring the situation at the school in coordination with the Women and Children’s Protection Desk./MAP, WDJ
