A 41-year-old woman was gunned down by suspected riding-in-tandem assailants outside the compound of the Negros Occidental District Jail at Barangay Tabunan in Negros Occidental’s Bago City on Saturday afternoon, June 6.
The victim was identified as Ma. Lowela Foster, a resident of Manapla town’s Barangay 2.
Bago police said Foster had just checked out of the district jail after reportedly visiting an inmate together with several companions.
Foster was riding a rented tricycle when two suspects on a black motorcycle suddenly approached her and opened fire.
The victim sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the left side of her jaw and was declared dead.
Initial police investigation showed that the suspects used a caliber .45 firearm during the attack.
The motorcycle driver was reportedly wearing a yellow-gold sweatshirt, while the backrider was dressed in a black T-shirt and black bonnet.
Both suspects were not wearing helmets.
Following the incident, the suspects immediately fled the scene, prompting authorities to launch a hot pursuit operation.
Police are continuing their investigation to determine the motive behind the killing and identify the gunmen./CCJ, WDJ
