Farmer arrested over rape

The Police Regional Office in the Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) arrested a farmer wanted for rape in a manhunt operation at Barangay Bago in Negros Oriental’s Tayasan town on Saturday, June 6.

Police identified the suspect as alias 42-year-old “Jim,” a resident of Sitio Layawan II in the village.

Lt. Colonel Joem Malong, PRO-NIR public information office chief, said the suspect was arrested by virtue of an arrest warrant for the crime of four counts of rape.

Malong said the suspect allegedly sexually assaulted the minor victim on several occasions while she was tending their goats in a grassy area and threatened to kill her and her parents should she disclose the incident to anyone.
