A 16-year-old male died while two others were injured after their motorcycles collided with a dump truck along New Economic Highway in Bacolod City’s Barangay Sum-ag on Tuesday night, May 12.

Police identified the fatality as alias “Louigie,” while the injured passengers were identified as “JR” and “Jeremy,” all residents of Barangay Tabunan in Negros Occidental’s Bago City.

Based on witness accounts, the three victims were riding separate motorcycles and were allegedly traveling at high speed while following each other.

“Louigie” was leading the group, followed closely by “JR,” with “Jeremy” trailing behind.

The witness said that upon reaching the accident area, the vehicle ahead of the motorcycles suddenly made a turn to the opposite lane.

“Louigie” reportedly failed to brake in time, resulting in a collision with a dump truck.

The impact proved fatal for the victim, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Authorities reported severe head injuries and multiple fractures.

“JR” was injured after his motorcycle reportedly slid underneath the truck following the impact, while “Jeremy” also sustained injuries after being thrown off his motorcycle during the incident.

Authorities noted that local residents have previously observed motorcycles racing along the same stretch of road, even during late-night and early-morning hours, raising concerns over reckless driving practices in the area.

An investigation is ongoing to determine the full circumstances of the incident and possible liabilities./CJ, WDJ
