A 50-year-old fisherman was injured after being stabbed during a late-night altercation in Negros Occidental’s Hinoba-an town on Sunday, May 3.
Hinoba-an police said the victim was on his way home when he encountered the suspect, identified only by the alias 45-year-old “Lolong,” also a fisherman and a resident of Barangay Asia’s Purok 4 around 11:30 p.m.
Without any clear provocation, the suspect allegedly struck the victim on the head using an undetermined object.
Despite the attack, the victim managed to go home and retrieve a bolo.
However, upon returning to the area of the incident — approximately 15 meters from his home — the suspect reportedly confronted him again and stabbed him on the left side of the abdomen.
The victim was immediately rushed to the Hinoba-an District Hospital for initial treatment before being referred to a hospital in Kabankalan City for further medical care.
Police launched a pursuit operation, leading to the arrest of the suspect./CJ, WDJ
