A late-night altercation fueled by alcohol turned fatal in Negros Occidental’s Manapla town, leaving one man dead and another injured.

Police said the victim, identified as 33-year-old alias “Jun,” was declared dead on arrival at a hospital after sustaining multiple stab wounds following the incident at Crossing Paet in Barangay 1-A on April 25.

Police identified the 28-year-old suspect as “Wewin,” who also suffered injuries during the incident.

Initial investigation revealed that both the victim and the suspect were under the influence of liquor when they engaged in a heated argument that escalated into a fistfight.

The two were reportedly pacified by their father and returned to their respective homes.

However, the suspect later went to the victim’s residence armed with a bladed weapon, triggering another confrontation.

The victim sustained fatal stab wounds, while the suspect was also injured during the encounter.

Both individuals were rushed to Saint Anne Hospital in Cadiz City, but the attending physician declared the victim dead on arrival./CJ, WDJ
