A unit of the New People’s Army (NPA) claimed responsibility for the execution of a man accused of rape at Barangay Manlucahoc in Negros Occidental’s Sipalay City, citing a decision by what it described as a “revolutionary court” of the people.

In a statement, the NPA’s Armando Sumayang Jr. Command alleged that the victim, identified as Gamay Lendio, was sentenced to death on Wednesday, April 22, and executed in Sitio Abo after being found guilty of repeatedly raping his own daughter over several years.

The group said the act was part of its enforcement of “revolutionary justice,” asserting that it aims to defend the rights of civilians and punish individuals accused of harming innocent people.

The statement was attributed to Ka Andrea Guerrero, spokesperson of the Armando Sumayang Jr. Command operating under the NPA.

Authorities have yet to issue an official statement confirming the incident or the identity of the victim, and independent verification of the claims remains pending./CJ, WDJ
