An alleged frontman of an investment scam was shot dead while a barangay kagawad was injured in a shooting incident at Barangay 2 in Negros Occidental’s Hinigaran town on Tuesday night, April 21.

The fatality was identified as 40-year-old Henjie Cuadra, a resident of the area, who sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was declared dead.

Injured was Barangay Kagawad Novem Arnido, who was hit by a stray bullet during the attack along Lopez Jaena Street.

Initial information from Barangay 2 Captain Prudencio Villarias, Jr. said the victims were drinking at a local establishment with another companion when an unidentified suspect suddenly entered and shot Cuadra.

Police recovered two 9mm cartridge cases and a deformed bullet at the scene.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify the suspect and determine the motive.

Villarias added that Cuadra had reportedly planned to run for barangay kagawad in the upcoming elections./CJ, WDJ
