In a bid to strengthen energy conservation measures, the Bacolod City government implemented a flexible work arrangement starting yesterday.
Based on Memorandum No. 99, issued by Mayor Greg Gasataya, the initiative underscores the city’s commitment to promoting clean and responsible energy usage while ensuring that public services remain efficient and uninterrupted.
Under the new scheme, all city offices and departments will conduct onsite work from Monday to Thursday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Every Friday, employees will shift to a work-from-home setup, specifically for tasks that can be performed remotely, such as research, policy development, data processing, drafting reports, email correspondence, and other computer-based functions.
However, frontline services, public safety units, health emergency response teams, and other essential services are authorized to adopt alternative schedules.
This ensures that there is no disruption in the delivery of vital services to the public.
The directive also emphasizes that the arrangement comes with strict accountability measures.
Employees are required to adhere to output-based performance standards, submit accomplishment reports, follow official communication protocols, and strictly observe data privacy and security rules.
On March 16, the city government ordered the implementation of a four-day workweek in its government offices, as part of efforts to reduce electricity and fuel consumption amid rising global oil prices linked to tensions in the Middle East./WDJ
