Two men were injured after they were allegedly attacked with a bladed weapon by a gang member in front of a public terminal in Negros Occidental’s Himamaylan City at around 4:00 a.m. on Monday, March 30.
The victims, aged 36 and 19, are both residents of Binalbagan town.
Police identified the suspect only by 21-year-old alias “Vince,” a resident of Himamaylan’s Barangay Carabalan.
According to Police Lt. Peter Genovia of the Himamaylan police, initial investigation showed that the suspect allegedly blocked the two victims for still-undetermined reasons before suddenly attacking them with a knife.
Responding police officers were later confronted by the suspect, who allegedly blocked the police vehicle and attempted to throw objects at authorities.
This prompted a police officer to shoot the suspect in the leg to neutralize him.
The suspect was brought under hospital arrest and is now facing charges of direct assault and attempted homicide.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the motive behind the attack and possible gang-related links./CJ, WDJ
