The Land Transportation Office in the Negros Island Region (LTO-NIR) reported smooth and orderly operations in its intensified road safety campaign under “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos!: Semana Santa and Summer Vacation 2026,” as authorities tightened inspections ahead of the Holy Week travel rush.

Based on monitoring conducted from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on March 27, a total of 83 motor vehicles were inspected across major transport hubs, including the Bacolod South Ceres Terminal, Bacolod North Ceres Terminal, and Burgos Extension.

Of the total units checked, 76 vehicles passed safety standards, while seven were flagged for deficiencies and failed inspection.

The LTO-NIR issued temporary operator’s permits to the affected units to ensure compliance before they are allowed to return to regular operation.

Authorities emphasized that no unsafe or unfit vehicles were permitted to continue traveling.

The inspection also recorded no cases of colorum operations, unregistered vehicles, reckless driving, or unlicensed drivers during the monitoring period.

A total of 12 LTO personnel were deployed for the operation, which officials described as part of proactive measures to ensure roadworthiness and passenger safety amid the expected surge of travelers for Holy Week.

Traffic conditions at key terminals remained light to moderate, with passenger flow described as manageable — indicating a smooth start to the seasonal travel period.

LTO-NIR, under the supervision of officer-in-charge Regional Director Jeck Conlu, assured the public that inspections and enforcement operations will continue throughout Holy Week and summer travel season to maintain safe and hassle-free journeys across the region./CJ, WDJ
