Human remains believed to belong to a 52-year-old woman who had been missing since August 2025 were discovered at Barangay Dulao in Negros Occidental’s Bago City on Thursday afternoon, March 26.

Bago police said the remains were found around 5:20 p.m. in Purok Michelle, approximately 40 meters from the victim’s residence.

Based on accounts gathered by authorities, the remains were first seen by the victim’s brother-in-law while he was passing through the area to feed his carabao.

The victim’s husband and daughter later identified the remains through clothing recovered at the site, including leggings, a towel and undergarments believed to belong to the missing woman.

Investigators said the victim was last seen on August 7, 2025, when she reportedly left her home to pay a loan at an establishment in Bacolod City.

However, a review of CCTV footage from a nearby store in Barangay Dulao conducted by the family showed no record of the victim passing through the area at the time she was expected to.

The woman was reported missing by her daughter the following day.

Authorities said the recovered remains have been transferred to a funeral home for post-mortem examination and DNA cross-matching to confirm the victim’s identity and determine the cause of death./CJ, WDJ
