A community FM radio announcer was shot dead outside his house at Barangay Sag-ang in Negros Occidental’s La Castellana town yesterday.
Police identified the victim as Jaz Calo, a resident of Lapak Kawayanan in the village.
In a radio interview with a tricycle driver who called for police assistance after Calo was shot, the victim was watering his plants located on the side of the road.
Residents of the area alleged that the gunman was riding in a pickup truck, but that is still being verified by La Castellana police.
Sag-ang village chief Rolando Torres, in the initial investigation, said there is no complaint filed against Calo.
Torres said the radio announcer also ran for barangay kagawad but lost./CJ, WDJ
