The CBR Buglas girls football teams delivered strong performances during the 19th anniversary celebration of the Gardenville United Football Club Inc., finishing with two runner-up trophies at the City of Victorias Bootfest.

Competing in the Girls Born 2009 and Girls Born 2012 divisions, the teams secured two first runner-up finishes and produced two Best Defender awardees.

Coach Joshua Fegidero, head coach of the Girls Born 2009 squad, credited the team’s resilience after an early setback in the competition.

“We believed that the players could bounce back after a 1-0 loss to Sagay FC. With adjustments from the coaching staff, they were able to reach the semifinals against Silay Lokal FC and eventually advance to the championship round,” Fegidero said.

In the Girls Born 2012 division, CBR Buglas fielded two squads, with Team A also finishing as first runner-up.

According to assistant coach Earl Bona, the championship match against Sagay FC ended in a scoreless draw before the organizers implemented a three-minute, 3-on-3 sudden-death format to determine the winner.

“The tournament followed a NORFA-sanctioned format, and the finals required a sudden-death round after the 0-0 draw,” Bona said.

The Girls Born 2012 Team A roster included Shanel Molequin, Cyrlizene Ibañez, Maxene Sison, Ysabel Yasay, April Gayongala, Princess Tanghal, Ashly Geguiera, Crysna Gaugano, Jazzmine Cuberos, and Meysha Cadungog.

Team B was composed of Mhaj Descargar, Nicole Valeriano, Drake Ibañez, Marcela Lachica, Alana Lachica, Jirah Marcelino, Princess Duremdez, Sunshine Beboso, Alre Javellana, Floraine Visitacion, Edreanna Esguia, Ella Melana, and Kris Ricaplaza.

The teams were guided by technical director, Coach Jiff, along with coaches Luther Silava, Earl Bona, Bon Sison, Ron Molequin, and Zane Oñate.

The tournament also served as preparation for the upcoming Ayala Vermosa Quad Meet in Manila on March 27 for the Girls Born 2009 squad.

That lineup includes Renee Lomugdang, Claudia Montinola, Shanel Molequin, Jhayne Dalogdog, Shine Sales, Marinel Gonzales, Yannah Amar, Nicole Segovia, Chloe Pasana, Kelsy Anub, Nathalie Andres, and Khreshia Clarion.

The team will again be led by Fegidero together with technical director Coach Jiff and coaches Silava, Bona, Red Yasay, and Molequin as they compete in the 8-a-side FIFA artificial turf event. /ASC, WDJ
