The weather bureau said a low pressure area (LPA) is forecast to form east of Mindanao near the boundary of the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) by Monday, March 9.
The LPA’s trough will cause scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Northern Mindanao and Caraga, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
The same weather conditions will prevail over Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Bicol, and the Visayas on the same day due to the shear line.
Pagasa’s weather outlook did not indicate whether the LPA would enter the PAR.
The bureau, however, anticipates that the LPA’s trough will affect parts of the country until March 13.
Mindanao and Eastern Visayas will experience cloudy skies, scattered rains, and thunderstorms from March 10 to 12.
The LPA’s trough will likewise dampen Surigao del Sur and Davao Oriental by March 13.
Meanwhile, the shear line, northeast monsoon or “amihan,” and localized thunderstorms are also expected to bring rains over some parts of the country next week, Pagasa said. (PNA)
