The Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts asserted its dominance on the national stage, overpowering Rafael B. Memorial High School in straight sets, 25-23, 25-16, 25-17, to clinch the National Grassroots Volleyball League (NGVL) championship in Bacolod City.

The Thunderbolts overcame a tight opening frame before taking full control of the match, showcasing their depth and defensive strength to complete the sweep and secure the title.

After narrowly claiming the first set, Bacolod Tay Tung dictated the pace in the succeeding frames, using disciplined blocking and steady offensive execution to keep Rafael B. Memorial at bay and finish the finals without dropping a set.

The team’s strong showing was reflected in the individual awards, led by Mari Antoinette Ros Cacho, who was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player following her consistent all-around performance.

Memielle Jolliene Letran was recognized as Best Open Spiker, while Marishka Alexandria Andrada earned Best Setter honors for her leadership in running the offense.

Zelver Fait Banguiao was named Best Middle Blocker, and Luchi Vivero took home the Best Libero award for her defensive contributions.

On the opposing side, Rafael B. Memorial’s Seth Gaenga was named Best Opposite Spiker after standing out despite the finals defeat.

Bacolod Tay Tung’s championship run was steered by head coach Ian Macariola, with support from assistant coaches Gersan Banzuela and Sheryl Laborte, as the Thunderbolts completed a memorable campaign by bringing home the national title./ASC, WDJ
