San Carlos City has emerged as a center for national coaching development as the practical sessions of the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) “C” Diploma Coaching Course officially began on Monday, February 2.
The week-long course is being organized by the Negros Occidental Regional Football Association (NORFA) in coordination with the San Carlos City Negros Football Club, following the completion of the online theory phase by participants last month.
A total of 30 aspiring and active coaches are taking part in the program, coming from different parts of Negros Occidental as well as nearby provinces.
Participants also traveled from Cebu and Manila, underscoring the growing role of San Carlos City in football and sports development.
The opening day focused on the fundamentals of coaching leadership and style, with instructors guiding participants to establish their own philosophies and approaches to the game.
Discussions centered on the importance of communication, decision-making and player management.
In the afternoon, the sessions shifted to the pitch, where coaches worked on techniques for teaching and skill development.
The practical drills emphasized breaking down movements into simple, structured steps that can be applied in grassroots and youth training.
NORFA officials said the course aims to raise the standard of football coaching in the region and help develop a new generation of qualified trainers who can contribute to the sport’s growth nationwide./ASC, WDJ
