San Carlos City athletes qualify for NIRAA 2026

San Carlos City and the Department of Education (DepEd) Division Office congratulated their athletes for their successful campaign in the recently concluded Negros Occidental Provincial Meet to earn their spots in the 2026 Negros Island Region Athletic Association (NIRAA) Meet.

In a statement released through the San Carlos City Information Office, city and schools division officials led by Mayor Rene Gustilo said the athletes “brought pride and honor to our division and city” and secured qualification to the regional competition.

Leading the medal haul was Sheriel Denise Siaboc, who captured the gold medal in the secondary girls singles event to book her ticket to NIRAA 2026.

Also qualifying for the regional meet were Jhayan Manayon and Jairu Bayot, who ruled the secondary boys doubles division to claim the gold medal.

Bayot added another podium finish after teaming up with Dayne Maravilla to win the bronze medal in mixed doubles secondary, while Mary Vianee Villadar took bronze in the elementary girls singles event.

City and DepEd officials praised the athletes for their dedication and perseverance, encouraging them to continue striving for excellence as they prepare to represent San Carlos City in the NIRAA 2026 competitions./ASC, WDJ
