The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Negros Island Region (PDEA-NIR) is reinforcing its coordination with the Negros Oriental provincial government to bolster the government’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs.

PDEA-NIR Acting Director Melvin Suarez Estoque, together with members of the agency’s command group, paid a courtesy call on Negros Oriental Governor Chaco Sagarbarria, where both sides discussed the current drug situation in the province and strategies to enhance joint anti-drug operations.

Among the key matters raised were PDEA’s request for provincial government support in allocating a lot for the establishment of the PDEA Negros Oriental Provincial Office, as well as the need for additional logistical assistance to improve operational readiness and effectiveness in the field.

The meeting also tackled the implementation of Oplan Harabas and other ongoing anti-illegal drug initiatives, with emphasis on sustaining close collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the provincial government to address emerging challenges related to illegal drugs.

Sagarbarria expressed his continued support for PDEA’s programs and initiatives, underscoring the provincial government’s commitment to maintaining peace and order and working closely with law enforcement agencies toward a drug-free Negros Oriental.

In a press release, PDEA-NIR reaffirmed its strong partnership with the provincial government, highlighting a unified resolve to intensify anti-drug efforts./CJ, WDJ
