Victorias City swimmer Ariel Joseph Alegarbes delivered a standout performance at the recently concluded 13th Asean Para Games in Thailand, winning five medals for the Philippines.
Alegarbes captured the gold medal in the 100-meter backstroke, while also earning two silver medals in the 100-m butterfly and the 200-m backstroke.
He added two bronze finishes in the 200-m individual medley and the 400-m individual medley.
City officials said the multi-medal showing marked one of the most successful international campaigns by a Victoriasanon athlete, bringing recognition not only to the city but also to the country.
The Victorias City government congratulated Alegarbes for his achievement, noting that his performance reflects months of preparation, discipline, and commitment to his sport.
