Three individuals were injured following a head-on collision involving a light utility vehicle and a motorcycle along the national highway at Barangay Sampinit in Negros Occidental’s Bago City yesterday morning.
Initial police investigation revealed that the light utility vehicle, driven by a 64-year-old man, a resident of the city’s Barangay Poblacion, was traveling from Bacolod City toward Bago City.
The vehicle reportedly suffered a blowout of its left front tire upon reaching the accident site.
Police said the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, swerved into the opposite lane, and collided head-on with the oncoming motorcycle, which was traveling in its proper lane.
The motorcycle was driven by a 48-year-old married man from Pontevedra town’s Barangay Miranda, with a 21-year-old backrider from E.B. Magalona.
The motorcycle driver was rendered unconscious due to the impact.
His backrider and the light utility vehicle driver remained conscious.
All three sustained injuries and were immediately transported by the Bago City Rescue Team to the Bago City Hospital for medical treatment.
Both vehicles incurred heavy damage to their front portions.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine any further liabilities related to the incident./CJ, WDJ
