A motorcycle rider was killed after being struck and run over by a cargo truck along the Bacolod-Silay Access Road in Bacolod City’s Barangay Efegenio Lizares on Sunday afternoon, January 25.
Responders said the motorcycle rider, a 35-year-old resident of Talisay City’s Barangay Cabatangan, sustained severe head injuries and trauma to other parts of the body.
Carlo Lamayo, head of the Talisay City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, said the victim showed no signs of life at the scene at 2:50 p.m.
The victim was transported to the Talisay City Health Office, where he was officially declared dead.
Investigators said the vehicles were traveling in the same direction from Bacolod toward Silay City.
Investigation showed the truck allegedly lost control and collided with the rear of the motorcycle.
The impact sent the motorcycle into the gutter, causing it to fall, after which it was reportedly run over by the truck.
The truck driver, a 52-year-old male, was taken into police custody.
Authorities are working to determine the circumstances that led to the collision./CJ, WDJ
