The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has lauded the local government’s strong support for police operations, personnel welfare and modernization efforts as the city steps into 2026.

During the BCPO New Year’s Call on Wednesday, January 21, police officials highlighted the tangible assistance provided by Mayor Greg Gasataya and the city government, describing it as a key factor in improving mission readiness and public safety, particularly amid intensified anti-drug campaigns.

Police Captain Rosalino Pugoy, Jr. of the BCPO – Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) said the city’s support has directly enhanced operational efficiency and personnel safety.

“The City of Bacolod provided two armored SWAT vans, which allow us to conduct operations without relying on outside units. It’s a big boost for both efficiency and safety,” Pugoy said.

The city also turned over 40,800 rounds of training ammunition, enabling SWAT personnel to train without incurring personal expenses.

Additional support includes patrol car tires, computers for administrative efficiency, handheld radios, and an LED wall for public activities.

Beyond logistics, the city has increased the monthly allowance for uniformed personnel from P1,500 to P2,000.

Patrolwoman Rosanie Bulacja described the move as “unprecedented” in her three years of service, adding that it reflects the city’s commitment to modernizing policing while supporting officers’ families.

The BCPO also welcomed the upcoming delivery of 10 electric patrol vehicles, part of the city’s modernization program aimed at improving law enforcement mobility.

Mayor Gasataya assured officers that the local government will continue its support, citing the dedication and risks undertaken by the police as inspiration for continued investment in public safety.

With strengthened logistical support, improved welfare, and modernized equipment, BCPO officials affirmed their commitment to serving and protecting Bacolod residents with professionalism and dedication throughout 2026./CJ, WDJ
