The skeletal remains of a two-year-old boy who went missing during Typhoon “Tino” in November 2025 were discovered at Barangay Robles in Negros Occidental’s La Castellana town.

La Castellana police chief, Police Major Romulo Gepilango said a local resident noticed the cord of an electric drill partially buried in the ground at Hacienda Taborda.

Upon pulling it out, a human skull and a purple sando shirt with yellow trim were uncovered.

Authorities immediately coordinated with families of missing persons in the area.

The boy’s mother positively identified the remains based on the clothing.

The child’s remains have since been turned over to his family for proper burial.

The victim’s mother recalled that her son was swept away by floodwaters at around 7:00 a.m. on November 4, 2025, at the height of Typhoon “Tino,” which devastated parts of Negros Island.

The storm claimed the lives of 96 individuals across Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental, with 40 others reported missing./CJ, WDJ
