Meanwhile, Cauayan town recorded two separate fatal shooting incidents on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
The first occurred at around 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday in Barangay Baclao, where an 18-year-old male student was shot multiple times by still-unidentified assailants. The victim was pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital. Police said the victim had just returned from running an errand on a motorcycle when he was ambushed along an ascending portion of the road.
Meanwhile, at 2:40 a.m. on Thursday in Barangay Isio, a 30-year-old laborer was shot and killed following a confrontation involving a prior misunderstanding between the suspect and the victim’s nephew.
