2 hurt in separate stabbing

Two individuals were injured in separate stabbing and hacking incidents in Negros Occidental’s Kabankalan City and Cauayan town on Monday, December 8, according to police.

A 48-year-old driver was injured after being stabbed during an altercation at Purok Langka in Kabankalan’s Barangay Tabugon at around 3:00 a.m.

Police said the victim was playing Scatter when the 28-year-old suspect approached and began bothering him.

The confrontation escalated into a heated argument, leading to a physical struggle during which the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim on the left side of the neck using a bladed weapon.

The victim was brought to the Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital for treatment.

Kabankalan police said the suspect later voluntarily surrendered to barangay officials and was turned over to them for proper disposition.

In Cauayan town, a 68-year-old laborer was injured after being hacked multiple times in Sitio Bonbon, Barangay Inayawan at around 8:30 p.m.

Initial investigation showed the victim was attending a birthday celebration and drinking with friends when the suspect arrived armed with a bolo and attacked him without warning. The suspect fled in an unknown direction after the incident.

The victim was rushed by relatives to the hospital due to multiple hack wounds, where attending physicians declared him in stable condition./CJ, WDJ
