STI – West Negros University (STI-WNU) secured a spot in the U19 Governor’s Cup Provincial Championship Final after a dominant 5-0 victory over San Carlos City in Leg 2 of the semifinals in Negros Occidental’s Victorias City.
Following a 1-1 draw in the opening leg, STI-WNU wasted no time asserting control on its home pitch, netting four goals in the first half to put the match beyond reach.
Tañaña opened the scoring in the seventh minute before Nengasca doubled the lead three minutes later.
Mainoso made it 3-0 in the 26th minute, and Tañaña completed his brace in the 30th to give the home side a commanding halftime advantage.
Bibar added the fifth goal in the 61st minute to seal the win and eliminate San Carlos from the competition.
Despite the semifinal exit, San Carlos capped a commendable campaign highlighted by its strong showing in Leg 1.
STI-WNU now advances to the Provincial Championship Final on December 5, where it will face the winner of the other semifinal between UNO-R and DBTI – Elan Vita./ASC, WDJ
